FourByThree proposes the development of a new generation of modular industrial robotic solutions that are suitable for efficient task execution in collaboration with humans in a safe way and are easy to use and program by the factory workers.
The project was active for three years, December 2014-2017.
−Several FourByThree partners will be present at Automatica, Trade Fair for Automation and Mechatronics, which will take place in Munich (Germany), from June 21 to June 24, 2016. Integrated assembly solutions, machine vision, industrial robotics and professional service robotics are some of the key concepts in this years’ edition, together with Industry 4.0.
Project partner ZeMA has devoted its exhibition to the concept of flexible and requirement-oriented automation. The automation of assembly processes in special purpose machinery is very difficult and subject to technical and economic risks, due to small batch size and high amount of variants. Complexity is so high in many cases, that automation is inapplicable.
The flexible and requirement-oriented automation approach that ZeMA has researched and implemented in the welding process (among others), combines the skills of both the worker and the robot by human-robot cooperation (HRC). The idea is to support the worker during the manufacturing processes with a HRC robot system which enables to reduce the cycle time and achieve an improvement of the quality.
A demonstrator of a semi-automated robot welding system using human-robot-cooperation will be shown by ZeMA at AUTOMATICA in collaboration with a shared stand of MHI (Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Montage, Handhabung und Industrierobotik).
ZeMA’s stand will be located at Hall 4, booth 212.
FourByThree will be present at the Machining-Tool Biennial (BIEMH), which will take place in Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain), from May 30 to June 4, 2016. This edition will focus on the topic of Industry 4.0 and its impact on the sector. So far, 982 companies are listed as exhibitors. One of our project partners, PILZ, will hold a workshop on safe collaborative robots, with the support of Universal Robots and IK4-TEKNIKER.
The session, which will be delivered in Spanish, will take place on Thursday, June 2nd, at 10.00am. Toni Guasch (PILZ), Alejandro Climent (Universal Robots) and Iñaki Maurtua (IK4-TEKNIKER) will be the keynote speakers, but representatives from industrial companies are invited to share their questions and experiences.
These are some of the specific topics to be addressed:
If you want to learn more about the workshop or sign up, please visit PILZ’s website or send an email to formacion@pilz.es.
During the last plenary meeting at DFKI’s headquarters in Bremen, Germany (April 18-April 20 2016), project partners, lead by experts from ZeMa, assembled the second FourByThree prototype. The first prototype (already moving) was also available for project partners to analyze.
This process of assembly helped the team become familiar with the different features of the robot and enabled some deep technical discussions. Many ideas for improvement emerged and will be taken into account in the next prototypes. The workshop also allowed for a first assesment of the safety aspects of the robot, a task project partner PILZ is in charge of.
